Who better to convey the powerful value of Playing for Peace™ than one of the participants! Many are here at Apple Hill as a result of the Playing for Peace™ program that began in 1988 and has blossomed into a world-wide initiative, bringing together dedicated young musicians from areas of conflict to reconcile differences through the language of music.
Recently I traveled with the Apple Hill String Quartet to Cyprus, Jordan, Turkey, the Republic of Ireland, New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe. We listened to many wonderful musicians, reconnected with old friends, and made many new ones too. Now we are eagerly looking forward to the arrival of our 28 Playing for Peace™ scholarship students.
