Playing for Peace Scholar Featured in Local Concert

Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music Playing for Peace™ Scholar Marina Galstyan, piano, will perform Concert III of the Monadnock Region Concert Series with the Apple Hill Chamber Players on May 4 at 3:00 PM in the Peterborough Unitarian Church.

The program will feature Haydn, String Quartet, Op. 76 #1, Mendelssohn, String Quartet in E minor, Op. 44 #2, and Franck, Piano Quintet in F minor.

A native of Gyumri, Armenia, Ms. Galstyan is a long-time participant of Apple Hill’s Summer Chamber Music Workshop. She was awarded the Playing for Peace™ scholarship in 2007, and has spent the 2007-2008 school year taking classes and studying music in depth at Keene State College.

Apple Hill Chamber Players Elise Kuder and Sarah Kim, violins, Michael Kelley, viola, and Rupert Thompson, cello, are music ambassadors who host concerts and master classes in areas of conflict around the world, including Israel and the West Bank, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, Cyprus, and Burma.

For over 30 years, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music has brought people from conflicted regions together through the teaching and playing of chamber music.
