Matczynski Named New Apple Hill Executive Director
Concert violist, teacher and respected arts administrator Leonard Matczynski has been named Executive Director of Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, effective October 1.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to engage such a respected and accomplished arts administrator to lead Apple Hill,” noted Board Chair Alfrieda (Dita) Englund.

“Lenny brings a long association with Apple Hill as a summer faculty member and, more recently, as a Board member,” she added. “His accomplishments as Executive Director of Emmanuel Music in Boston for 15 years promise growth and excitement during his term at Apple Hill!”

For his part, Matczynski said recently that, since 1982, he has seen “Apple Hill develop and grow. I have seen students, faculty and artists come and go, and I have heard some of the most amazing concerts… For the entire time I have loved Apple Hill and everyone involved.”

Matczynski studied viola and chamber music with the leading musicians of the time and, as a teacher, has been deeply involved in the training and mentoring of young artists.
